Detection of Fungal Contamination of Ward Furnishing and Medical Equipment Used in intensive Care Unit and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

Background: Nosocomial infections acquired during hospitalization depend on the characteristics of microorganisms, with a high risk being when contaminated environment. Cross-transmission microorganisms by surfaces and hands health care workers are considered to be main route spread nosocomial infections.
 Aim study: This study aim detect fungal contamination ward furnishings medical equipment used in intensive unit Neonatal unit.
 Materials Methods: Fifty environmental swabs were collected from including predefined (armrest beds, wash sinks, tables), between August September 2021.Swab specimens immediately inoculated onto plates that contained Sabouraud Dextrose Agar. After samples incubated for 1 7 days period at 28°C checked every day growth.
 Results: Out fifty samples, 21(42%) yielded Fungal growth. From these isolated organisms Penicillum species was predominant isolate 10 (47.6%) followed byAspergillus flavus.Penicillum commonest isolates among ICU, while Aspergillus flavus ICU. The most contaminant Equipment found ICU 5(55.6%), Place floors 3(25%).
 Conclusion: showed hospital may contain fungi indicating form potential source cross-infection through their patients.
